TWO SEAS -

TWO PLEASURES

La Manga is doubly lucky - Mar Menor (Salt Lagoon) and Mar Major (Mediterranean Sea). The perimeter of the coast is 73 km. Beaches with clear, shallow water extend one after another. The lagoon Mar Menor, with an area of 170 km2, is known as the largest salt lake in Europe, with a maximum depth of no more than 7-8 m. Small volcanic islands of Isla Mayor, Perdighera, Siervo, Rondella and Suheto rise from the water. Mar Menor has been historically known for a long time. In a brief historical digression there is evidence of the settlement of these places since the time of the Paleolithic (about 2.5 million years ago).

The Romans highly valued this area as a source of valuable salt and maritime communications, which led to the emergence of most industrial settlements. These messages were possible because in the Roman era, Mar Menor was practically connected to the Mediterranean Sea. Over time, a gradual barrier from the sea arose in the form of a narrow spit, and about 1000 years ago, Mar Menor acquired the appearance that it has now. The spit that separates the Mar Menor from the Mediterranean received the name La Manga Del Mar Menor.

Feel the Mar Menor

The therapeutic properties of mud and clay have been known since antiquity. Many other cultures in China, India and South America have used them to relieve rheumatic pains. Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, recommended this treatment, as did many other ancient doctors.

The climatic conditions of Mar Menor, with a high number of hours of sunshine per year and high salinity of its waters for centuries, created large deposits of clay in various zones of Mar Menor. The most recent study conducted by the University of Murcia in 1995 showed that these sedimentary masses contain a high percentage of positive ions of calcium, magnesium, potassium and negative ions of chlorides and sulfides.

The therapeutic effect of mud has absorbing, mineralizing effects, can neutralize acidity, and stimulates the effect of healing wounds.

One layer of clay applied to the skin absorbs all toxins of the peripheral system of the connective tissue and destroys the lymphatic toxins of the epidermis. It acts as a blotting paper for the skin. The high caloric conductivity of clay and mud makes them an anti-inflammatory agent in cases of rheumatism, arthritis, gout and during rehabilitation after bone fractures. The use of this clay is also recommended for throat infections.
It is recommended to start the use of mud baths only in small areas of the body, leaving dirt or blue clay on the skin for several minutes until it completely dries, then rinse with Mar Menor's salt water. If no side effects occur, the application time can be gradually increased and a thicker layer can be applied. It is best to apply mud and clay when it is hot enough so that the entire layer dries quickly and completely.

FOR YOUR HEALTH

Mar Menor is a very salty lagoon. The characteristics of its water are due to its exposure to the sun, wind and, above all, its connection with the Mediterranean Sea through canals. The salinity of the water of the lagoon of Mar Menor is approximately 42-47g / l, and the Mediterranean Sea - 36-37g / l.

The concentration of ions is represented by certain elements, such as magnesium, calcium, sodium, bromine, iodine and fluorine, which is an order of magnitude higher than in the Mediterranean Sea. It has been repeatedly demonstrated that the thermal effect with this type of salt water produces an osmotic effect on the internal tissues of the body, and the subsequent stimulation of blood flow.

As a result, toxins are removed and muscles relax, which is good for arthritis, rheumatism, problems with tendons, nerve conditions and joints. La Manga is a traditional and well-known place for taking mud baths and using blue clay.

On the salt shores of La Manga Del Mar Menor, you can take salt baths in any place anywhere, because There is excellent infrastructure along the coast.
